The excitement of prep has died down and I have been finding myself experimenting with different recipes. I aim to transform the consistency of the foods my stomach is accustomed to digesting to mix things up! I am currently reverse dieting, or in other words, my coach is slowly implementing carbs back into my diet at a very controlled rate. My off season objective is simple as it is to maintain my body fat percentage in hopes to gain size/muscle. Obviously, I don’t want to see an increase in fat since I am no where near lean by any standard but I realize that it is important to gain extra weight in order to add mass and size.
Mental gain #1: I have not weighed myself since before check-ins the morning before my show. I find it completely unnecessary (except when checking in with coach) since my goal at the moment is to add size and muscle; therefore, I should expect to gain weight. I think we are all guilty of self-sabotage and I know that if I begin to weigh myself, it may become an obsessive habit in the off season. Trust me, I want to avoid that at all costs.
I wanted to share a delicious protein waffle recipe I found while surfing Instagram! The recipe only calls for 4 ingredients so making it work with the foods in my meal plan is so easy! Here is the recipe:
♦️LOW CARB, HIGH PROTEIN BLONDIE PROTEIN WAFFLES ♦️
▪️16-32g PEScience Select Whey Blondie flavored (or your preferred whey protein of choice!)
▪️1/2 tsp baking powder
▪️1 whole egg
▪️water for consistency
✖️MACROS (w/o SF maple syrup) ✖️
▫️1.5g fat▫️4.5g carbs ▫️15-27g protein
*depending on how much protein you use, protein macros should be adjusted!
I topped my waffle with sugar free maple syrup (which completely transforms the taste and tricks you into believing it’s a real waffle!). Of course, it is not necessary but when adding syrup I would limit intake to about 1-2tbsp. Typical serving size is 1/4 cup which is too much in my opinion. When I say “less is more”, I mean it!
